NBCC, CCE, NCI and STAR Telehealth are proud to offer the BC-TMH Training Content.

The BC-TMH is a joint effort between the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE) and STAR Telehealth with New College Institute.  Video-based telemental health is a rapidly growing field spanning multiple mental health disciplines. Today’s mental health professionals seek the best practices and credibility to offer safe and effective services to their clients. The Board Certified–Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMH) credential is designed to meet this need. The BC-TMH gives mental health providers the training, knowledge, and credibility that clients and employers demand.

This module provides a brief overview of the telemental health field, including its history and rationale for services, and an overview of telemental health research and legislation. The challenges of providing telemental health and examples of best practices, as well as the basic steps for getting started will also be presented.

Course Learning Objectives:
Provide a definition of telemental health; Provide a brief history of the telemental health field; Describe the rationale for telemental health services; Provide an overview of the research and describe the current status of laws and telemental health; Alert providers to the challenges inherent in delivering services online; Provide examples of best practices to reduce potential risks; and Provide basic steps of what it takes to get started in the telemental health field.

Learning Outcomes Conditions:
• Complete self-paced certification in its entirety for this module.
• Complete certification for this module within 30 days.
• Pass all quizzes with 80% or better.

Qualified individuals upon completion of the Board Certified Telemental Health Training Series modules 1 through 9 will be able to apply to receive the credential by going to https://www.cce-global.org/Credentialing/BCTMH.  Upon successful completion of this module you will earn 1 CE clock hour with NBCC-ACEP801.
